Okay I’ve been promising one of my dear friends that I’d post my cupcakes on my blog. ;p Let me just preface my pictures by saying… I am a beginner baker and cook! I love to do it… but I am definitely a by the recipe kind of girl.
Anyhow… for two of my son’s birthday parties I decided to bake cupcakes rather than buying cake. Here is how they turned out!! The first… chocolate and confetti cupcakes topped with whipped cream cheese frosting… half with red sprinkles and half with green sprinkles… signifying the dark side and the good side respectively. HE HE!
The second… ice cream cone confetti cupcakes topped with whipped cream cheese frosting and colorful sprinkles!! Do they look yummie or what? They were super simple and I just followed the recipe on the back of the Betty Crocker Confetti Cupcake Mix Box.

Since we’re on the topic of food… I’ll take this opportunity to show you the snack spread at my son’s Star Wars themed birthday party. I was proud… all you Star Wars fans will notice what I will have to spell out for the non-Star Wars loving people… half of the food is green (mt. dew to drink for adults, green gatorade to drink for kids, guacamole dip for the chips, green mint m&m’s, green chocolate covered pretzel sticks {light sabers}, green mint oreo cookies, green grapes and green snap pea snacks) for the good side… and half of the food is red (pomegranate 7up to drink for the adults {way yummie!}, cranberry apple juice to drink for the kids, salsa dip for the chips, red mint m&m’s, red chocolate covered pretzel sticks {light sabers}, red oreo cookies, and red grapes) for the dark side!! ;p He he he!! I’m such a dork!! HA HA!!

I’m not sure if this is true or not… seems pretty accurate… you tell me what you think??
What Lisa Means
You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don’t get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don’t stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.
You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don’t always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don’t have as much going for them as you do.
You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.

Happy Birthday Jay!! :)
So far so good… no more storming as of yet.
But I think another one is going to come through on Tues… the day I was planning to have a few school friends over for S’s birthday. Every year we’ve had a really big party for him at Chuck E Cheese or some place like that since Jan birthdays usually guarantee rain. But this year he decided he wanted to have his friends over. But because our house is teenie weenie… we had to scale back and only invite a few friends. So we decided to invite some of his friends from church and school that he sees regularly. I plan to have some of his other friends that we used to see all the time over another time for a playdate/birthday celebration!! *wink wink*… you guys know who you are!!
Anyway, because of this storm and us not being able to have our opening for our craft blog… Michele and I have decided to post a tip each day until our actual opening. I just posted the tip for today… organizing your cardstock. I think it’s a great idea… and after I organize my closet… I think I may just do this with my cardstock!! Go check out http://getyourcrafton.wordpress.com if you’d like to view today’s tip!!
I hope to be on during the next few days… but we’ll see how the weather holds up. I still have some friends and their families without power.
Hoping it is restored soon!!

yesterday was interesting… kenny was told to work from home since the forecast was for a big storm… so when we woke up he was in the kitchen working. the storm continued to grow and we had a couple of power surges. luckily the night before i had gone to buy some water, more flashlights and some food that we could munch on in case of a power outtage. well, by 10 am or so the power was out!! we kept thinking what we should do… so we called my parents who live in a neighboring city and we asked if they had power. sure enough they did. so we decided to pack up and head over there. before we left we unplugged everything and turned all the lights off in case the power came back on and there might be more power surges. by 12 noon we made it over to my parents with some taco bell lunch. YUM YUM. ;p he he!! we saw a lot of neighborhoods with no power and a lot of debris on the road. kenny continued to work over there while the kids and i tried to stay entertained. i kept calling the house to see whether or not the answering machine came on, indicating that the power had indeed come back on. no luck. i was beginning to wonder if the power would ever come back on. then a thought came to me… maybe kenny had unplugged the phone when he had unplugged all of our other appliances. luckily my parents had the numbers to a couple of our neighbors and we called. turned out our power had been restored since 12 noon. HA HA!! so after we ate some more dinner, we decided to head back. the drive home was much more quiet with the storm settled down… however there were many neighborhoods still without power. and as we came upon our neighborhood we were thinking we were going to have to turn around and go back to my parents. we reached our block and it was pitch black all around. but when we turn on to our street, we noticed our side of the street had power… but not those across the street. what a bummer. i felt so bad for our neighbors. it was also a very eerie feeling to be on the street when it was so DARK… since only half of the street lights were working. as for the storm… it’s quieted down… but we’re due for another one on tues. oh my!!
